About us
Glimsy is a flashcard app. Two of us build it — Błażej and Tymek, students from Poland. Meet the people behind your favourite flashcard app :)
It started with Anki
Before Glimsy we studied with Anki, and Anki is good — its review algorithm does its job well. Other things got in the way: on iOS you have to pay for it, it looks very bare, and the settings hold so many options that to this day we do not know what some of them do.
Hence the idea behind Glimsy: take what is best about tools like that, and hide everything the user does not need to see.
We learned as we went
There was a second reason. At university we did not believe we would learn anything there that would matter in an actual job, so we wanted to run a project of our own — our dad talked us into it, he runs projects for a living and stayed on as our project manager. None of us had built an app on this scale before.
It showed. Setting up the database in Firebase took us about a month the first time round. When a rebrand meant redoing all of it, we were finished in half a day.
The project started in the summer of 2025, and in 2026 we came out of the garage, set up a company and shipped the first version of the app.
Where this is going
Glimsy is at an early stage and we are not pretending otherwise. The direction, though, is settled and does not change: every new thing has to take work off the learner, not add another setting.
If you study with flashcards, you are the reason we build this.
